SAN FRANCISCO – Congressmember Rashida Tlaib will deliver a keynote speech on March 28, 2020 during the annual benefit for the National Lawyers Guild San Francisco Bay Area Chapter (NLGSF). The Michigan representative, the first Palestinian-American in Congress and one of the progressive freshman members of “the Squad,” has been at the forefront of challenging the Trump presidency and reinvigorating the left-wing flank of the Democratic Party. Congressmember Tlaib is also a former attorney with Sugar Law Center for Economic and Social Justice, an affiliate of the National Lawyers Guild. For more than 80 years, the National Lawyers Guild has organized legal workers, law students and attorneys to support social justice movements. The San Francisco Bay Area Chapter is the largest National Lawyers Guild chapter in the country and has played a significant role in providing legal support to activists and community organizers fighting for racial and economic justice in the Bay Area. Its annual Testimonial Dinner honors members and allies who are driven by the same values of equity and justice that guide NLGSF’s work. The honorees of the 2020 Testimonial Dinner are:

● Dennis Riordan, Riordan & Horgan – Champion of Justice Award
● Liz Jackson, Palestine Legal – Unsung Hero Award
● GABRIELA Oakland – Partner in Liberation Award

More than 500 attendees are expected to attend the 2020 Testimonial Dinner, the single-largest fundraising event for NLGSF. “The Testimonial Dinner is an opportunity for the Guild community to come together to celebrate the accomplishments of the chapter and to be inspired by the great work of our honorees,” said Jeff Wozniak, NLGSF Dinner Committee Co-Chair. The 2020 Testimonial Dinner will take place on Saturday, March 28th from 6pm – 9pm at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (701 Mission Street, San Francisco).
